Summer 2026 Internship Opportunities
(Part-Time Paid Internships)

Half Street Group, one of Rhode Island’s fastest growing strategic communications and public relations agencies, is searching for part-time, paid interns to support its public relations practice. These positions offer hands-on experience in media relations, event planning, digital communications, and social media strategy. Applicants should share the forward-looking, socially-conscious values that our clients cherish.

Half Street Group brings a new generation’s perspective to leadership communications and strategic public relations. We help organizations and leaders take control of their own stories and manage their reputations. We get results for our clients by focusing on audience, message, and culture and leveraging our decade-long relationship with media.

These internships will run from May through August 2026, with flexible start and end dates based on academic schedules. This role will be in-person only. Half Street has an office on South Main Street in Downtown Providence steps from the Michael Van Leesten Memorial Pedestrian Bridge.

Internships pay $21.50/hour and summer interns typically work 16-24 hours (2-3 days) per week.

PR & Event Intern

Position Summary:
The PR & Event Intern will assist in planning and executing client events, managing media relations, and supporting public-facing communications efforts. This role offers the opportunity to gain experience in event coordination, community engagement, and media outreach while working closely with Half Street’s PR Account Director, Account Executives, and Digital & Social Media Specialist.

Responsibilities:

  • Support event planning by attending team and client meetings

  • Assist with event logistics, including coordinating vendors, managing RSVPs, and organizing event materials

  • Provide on-site support during client events, ensuring smooth execution and audience engagement

  • Develop social media content and graphics for event promotion

  • Proofread and edit public-facing materials, including press releases and client communications

  • Conduct media monitoring and compile post-event client coverage reports

Digital & Social Media Intern

Position Summary:
The Digital & Social Media Intern will contribute to digital storytelling efforts by assisting with social media management, content creation, and multimedia strategy. Working closely with the PR and digital team, this role will focus on developing and executing creative digital campaigns that enhance brand visibility for our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in creating and maintaining social media content calendars

  • Support the development of short-form videos, graphics, and digital content for client campaigns

  • Edit and proofread content for social media, blogs, and newsletters

  • Monitor digital trends and social media conversations relevant to clients’ industries

  • Provide support for social media analytics and performance tracking

  • Contribute to media monitoring and compiling client reports on digital engagement

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite; experience with Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus

  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment

  • Passion for working with mission-driven organizations that create positive change

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with a team
